Mustang Magic is an invitation-only equestrian competition held annually in January at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo that showcases the incredible trainability of wild horses. Professional trainers from across the United States are given roughly 120 days to gentle and train a completely untouched wild mustang managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). During the event, horse-and-rider pairs compete in handling, trail maneuvers, and a high-energy freestyle routine set to music to demonstrate the animal's transformation. The competition ultimately serves to promote wild horse adoption, culminating in a public auction where these newly trained mustangs are placed into permanent, loving homes.
